Wanted: Virtual Drummer Plug-In
Fri, 29 Aug 2008 15:59:14 +0000

Wanted: Virtual drummer plug-in that is easy to use and sounds great out of the box for one man band. Must be flexible, sit well in the mix, non-resource hogging, fast and simple to get up and running. If that virtual drummer is you, please contact. Virtual drummer plug-ins have become very popular of late and there is a great reason for it. As technology has progressed, the ability to add drums to a recording project without actually recording a drummer yourself is amazing.ShareThis
Is a Mac or PC Better for Home Recording?
Sat, 23 Aug 2008 13:33:21 +0000

Is a Mac or PC better for home recording with a DAW? This is a question that is subjective to opinion and personal taste. I really believe there is no right or wrong answer. Please don’t get my intentions wrong. I’m not trying to stir up a hornets nest with fans of PC’s or Mac’s. I just wanted to touch on a question that many who record at home usually have. This is a question that I've also had.ShareThis
Auto-Tune Without Distortion or Artifacts?
Thu, 21 Aug 2008 14:41:37 +0000

Ahh...Auto-Tune. Love it or hate it, Antares Audio Technologies pitch correction has made a huge mark on the recording world. Just listen to any top hits radio station and you'll find the familiar Auto-Tune vocal sound. Not quite sure what that sounds like? Basically, its that warbled, robotic like vocal sound that is found on a lot of modern pop music. If you'd like to hear some examples, check out this fun article on Auto-Tune abuse in pop music.ShareThis
Is Pro Tools Destroying Music?
Tue, 19 Aug 2008 12:00:14 +0000

The music industry isn't what it used to be. Is Pro Tools to blame for the collapse? Is it the root of all evil in our world? If you use a DAW other than Pro Tools, you'd probably answer yes, but that answer would be for other reasons. Personally, I don't think music is collapsing as some would suggest, but I think it's just changing. Some people have trouble when things change. That's not good because things are changing all the time. I know I'm a little hesitant about change, but sometimes you just have to get over it.ShareThis
M-Audio Nova Microphone Review
Mon, 18 Aug 2008 12:00:13 +0000

I have mentioned on my site that there are some great microphones under $100. M-Audio's Nova is one of those microphones. This microphone packs great sound in a price that comes in at $99 ( depending where you get it). I use this microphone as the work horse in my small home project studio. Actually, it is the only condenser microphone I have in my studio.ShareThis
Which DAW is Better?
Fri, 15 Aug 2008 12:00:56 +0000

No matter what you buy, it seems there's one product that is better than all the others. Is this true with DAW's? I'm not trying to stir up a hornets nest over this, but I thought it was something worth talking about. I know that there are a few people out there that are huge fans of their chosen DAW, and none of them want to hear that their choice wasn't the best.ShareThis
A Look at Digidesign’s Mbox 2
Thu, 14 Aug 2008 12:00:48 +0000

What can be said about Digidesign’s Mbox 2 that hasn’t been already said since it’s release a few years back? Is it still a viable option to record with Pro Tools at home? Can it be that good of an interface if it still uses USB 1.1 instead of the much faster USB 2.0? Well, if you don’t know much or haven’t heard a lot about the Mbox 2 yet, there is still a lot that can be said. It is still a very viable option to record at home with Pro Tools.ShareThis
M-Audio Fast Track Ultra
Wed, 13 Aug 2008 12:00:12 +0000

After reading a few of my posts, you'll probably notice that I really like M-Audio products. There newest computer audio interface, the Fast Track Ultra, is very high on my shopping list. Now, I know that M-Audio isn't perfect, but I have had enough good experiences with their products to have no problem in recommending them.ShareThis
What is a DAW?
Tue, 12 Aug 2008 12:00:40 +0000

DAW stands for Digital Audio Workstation and they have quickly become a staple for recording. While there are still people who record in analog using tape, most have moved over to the digital realm. Why record digitally? There are quite a few benefits including lossless sound, non-destructive editing, more ways to edit audio and the equipment is relatively affordable, among other things.ShareThis
POD X3: The Newest Amp Modeler From Line 6
Mon, 11 Aug 2008 13:51:26 +0000

In 1996 Line 6 was founded and has had their products go hand in hand with recording ever since. The POD X3 is no different from any of their other products. It just has some pumped up new features. From their beginning Line 6 has been trying to “meet the needs of today’s guitarist by harnessing technology to turn a wide range of great tone into a reality for every guitarist”. I believe they have succeeded in this.ShareThis
